Layout of front cover

This is my chosen layout for my front cover, I attained my inspiration from magazine such as NME.

I enjoyed playing with this layout as it is simple and will may emphasise on the picture I have taken.

Progress towards final cover

These are the steps used to create my final font cover.

Original Photo
i chose this photo for my front cover as i like the way it focuses in her face, and the model uses her hands to enhance the image i tried to aim for. the colours were my aim, as for my house colours i liked the idea of using dark reds and cream.

Edited photo
Changing this photo, involved altering the brightness and contrast. Also, i edited the eyes by cloning her lashes and adding to the darkness of the makeup. Furthermore, changing the brightness, enhanceds the lip colours. Also, i edited the hair my taking away the messy parts and cloning the dress to take away the parts of hair which were out of place.

Tools Used

The brightness/contrasting tool which changed the lighting to enhance the face and darken the hair to give a good contrast with the cream background with the long flowing dark hair.

Title planning

Chosen title fonts.
I have highlighted my chosen title font at the top. This was chosen due to it matching the house design and the way its letters are layed out randomly, just like the meaning of the title itself.

Front cover images

These images were taken of another student called Georgina Whitmore, she was used due to her colour of her hair and her complex skin colour. It suited the layout i needed.

Pictures were taken in all kinds, i managed to take around 100 photos in different clothing and lighting to have a variety of choice for my magazine cover.

These were the 18 chosen to pick from.

Defining my audience

Target Audience
Indie Scenesters
These are a few things I know my target audience enjoy listening to and doing for interests and hobbies. Therefore, these will be in cooperated into my magazine to link back to the target audience I have chosen.

Magazine inspiration

These magazines that are shown have inspired me in how I lay out my magazine and the kind of house design I will use. It also links to my chosen genre of music and therefore helps me design my magazine with its style of pictures and colours I use.

The chosen music genre

"Shoegazing" magazine will feature the genre music of alternative rock/indie. This music does not have a long history. However, it came about in the 60's and was called independent music. It involved a number of people trying to become ahead of the music and finding different. In 1980 the first UK indie chart was complied and bands was known for this type of genre. This type of music was known for festival goers, with sweat and the adrenaline clubs.

This applies to bands such as,

-florence and the machines
-the smiths
-friendly fires
-paramore
-the new sins
-bloc party
-mumford and sons
